Four Go To Options to Stay Active at Work

Four Go To Options to Stay Active at Work

If you’re spending all day making phone calls and chasing leads, you are probably more inactive than you realize. We know that being inactive isn’t healthy. It can lead to burnout, weight gain, and heart disease.

When you spend all day grinding at work, you come home and just want to rest. When is there time to exercise? At work, of course.

Here are a few tips for keeping yourself from being sedentary at your desk.

Go Mobile

Don’t worry, I’m not telling you to set up a desk on the train. If you’re on the phone, try standing or pacing at your desk while you speak. Get some steps in and increase your energy while getting those leads.

You can also try an under the desk pedal exerciser to keep yourself active without leaving your desk. Your circulation and calves will thank you later!

Try a Standing Desk

Standing workstations have become very popular with many offices and people working from home. Sit-stand workstations can substantially decrease the amount of time you spend being sedentary at work, and that leads to all sorts of benefits. Here are just a few upsides to standing for at least part of your workday.

If you’re sitting all day, then there’s a good chance your back isn’t doing too great. Setting your workstation to a comfortable standing height can help with your posture and reduce back and neck pain.

A standing desk can also allow you to adjust your workstation throughout the day to encourage you to move and work comfortably.

Combine this with one of those treadmills you can put under your desk, and you’ll start burning calories too.

Sit On an Exercise Ball

Have you ever heard of active sitting? If you’re in an office it might attract some attention, but using an exercise ball engages your back and ab muscles while helping you maintain good posture.

Going for a Workout on Your Lunch Break

For the biggest impact, getting a quick 30-40 minute workout in at your nearest gym is the way to go. Lunchtime workouts will re-energize you and get your blood pumping. Exercise helps improve mental performance, mood, and productivity. Even if you don’t want to get too sweaty (especially when there’s no time to shower), a low-impact stretching class – like yoga- will provide you with great benefits.

Try some of these tips and reap the benefits! Just because you’re sitting all day doesn’t mean you can’t stay active!
